Background
The BBC CLRN Specialty Group for Critical Care has been established to connect Healthcare professionals working throughout the region who are interested or are involved in clinical Critical Care research.

The group comprises local interested individuals and meets regularly to coordinate activity, projects and share resources and information. Anyone interested in clinical Critical Care research is welcome to participate in the group and should contact the Local Specialty Group Lead for further information.

Overall Aims
Our overall aims are to encourage and, where possible, support participation in research amongst doctors, nurses and allied health professionals who work within the field of critical care medicine.

Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM)
The SCCM is the largest multi-professional organisation dedicated to ensuring excellence and consistency in the practice of critical care. With nearly 16,000 members in more than 100 countries, SCCM is the only organisation that represents all professional components of the critical care team.
European Society of Intensive Care Medicine (ESICM)
The ESICM is an international non profit-making association of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other allied healthcare professionals. The number of members is now above 5000. The Society is devoted to the promotion of intensive care medicine, education, research, and professional development.
World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine (WFSICCM)
The WFSICCM was established in 1977 and is a membership organisation comprised of National Societies of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine. The principle objective of the World Federation is to promote the highest standards of Intensive and Critical Care Medicine for all mankind, without discrimination. The WFSICCM now has a membership of over 60 Societies with a combined individual membership of over 55,000 intensive and critical care practitioners throughout the world.
