Background
The BBC CLRN Specialty Group for Diabetes has been established to connect Healthcare professionals working throughout the region who are interested or are involved in clinical Diabetes research.

The group comprises local interested individuals and meets regularly to coordinate activity, projects and share resources and information. Anyone interested in clinical Diabetes research is welcome to participate in the group and should contact the Local Specialty Group Lead for further information.

Overall Aims
Our overall aims are to foster and encourage clinical research in Diabetes, within (but not restricted to) the NIHR CRN Portfolio, by including clinicians, scientists, other professional groups and representatives

Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRC)
The NIHR CLAHRC for Birmingham & Black Country is one of nine pilot CLAHRCs funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). CLAHRCs have been established to undertake high-quality applied health research focused on the needs of patients and to support the translation of research evidence into practice in the NHS.

Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation (DRWF)
DRWF is a registered charity established in the UK in 1998. Their long-term mission is to discover a cure for diabetes and in the meantime to support, advise and educate people living with diabetes and the general public.
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
JDRF exists to fund research in order to find the cure for type 1 diabetes. Over the last 40 years they have funded more than £850 million of research worldwide.
