Based in the heart of the Black Country, The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust provides a wide range of medical, surgical and rehabilitation services to the people of Dudley and surrounding areas.
With one inpatient hospital (Russells Hall Hospital) in the centre of Dudley, and two Hospital Outpatient Centres at the Guest and Corbett sites (based in Dudley and Stourbridge respectively), the Trust provides care and treatment for approximately 400,000 people.
Our hospitals are some of the most technologically advanced in the country, with state of the art medical and diagnostic equipment ensuring that our patients receive the highest standards of care possible in comfortable brand new purpose built wards and departments.
Russells Hall Hospital, the largest of the three Hospitals within the Trust, provides the full range of surgical and medical specialties for its Inpatient services, together with Outpatient and Therapy services.
The Corbett and Guest Hospital Outpatient Centres provide a range of Outpatient, Day Case and Rehabilitation services, and have been designed to make access to these services easier for patients, bringing a more community based feel to the surroundings.
In this years’ Health Care Commission Annual Health Check the Trust was rated as Good for Quality and Fair for Use of Resources, this follows two consecutive years of successfully being rated three star for its performance across a range of standards and targets.
The Trust is one of the leading pioneers of new digital imaging and scanning software in the NHS. With digital X-ray imaging allowing clinicians to access patient images from any PC in the hospital, patients receive diagnosis within minutes of having an X-ray.
The Trust is also leading the way in many other areas. In 2005 it introduced a new concept in Maternity care. With a purpose built LDRP Maternity unit (single en-suite delivery rooms that allow the mother to remain in the same room throughout the labour, delivery and recovery period) and specifically designed services that are tailored to meet the needs of women with a learning disability, the Trust’s Maternity unit is very successful in attracting both newly qualified and experienced Midwives to Dudley.
The Trust is the main provider of acute hospital services to the residents of Dudley, which covers a geographical area of approximately 70 square miles and has a population of 305,155 (2001 Census data). Russell’s Hall Hospital has 722 Inpatient beds. The Trust achieved Teaching status from the University of Birmingham in 2001.
