Local Specialty Groups

Local Specialty Groups bring together researchers to provide a local focus for activity in that disease area.

Each CLRN has identified their areas of strength at a local level where there is the commitment, capability and capacity to support NIHR Clinical Research Network Portfolio studies. CLRNs have also identified areas for development to support growth in the future and these groups all feed into the relevant national Specialty Group.

The Central and East London CLRN currently has local specialty leads for 23 of the 26 research areas identified by the NIHR Clinical Research Network Coordinating Centre (NIHR CRN CC), some covered through the Topic-specific Network Directors.

These local Specialty Clinical Leads will help identify the research priorities and clinical areas for this region, which are likely to be either existing or anticipated future strengths. These Clinical Leads provide the local focus for their individual topics and advise the CLRN.
