The Injuries, Accidents and Critical Care theme is led by Prof Fiona Lecky, who is also Research Director for the Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARN).
The LSG was set-up in January 2011 with the aim of increasing the amount of research in the area throughout Greater Manchester. With bases at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) and Central Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (CMFT), the LSG supports Prof Lecky at SRFT and Prof Simon Carley at CMFT as well as a study coordinator – Katharine Wylie – who is based at CMFT. It also has studies recruiting at University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
The LSG has experience in delivering research trials across all areas, including major trauma and intensive care medicine, as well as in both academic and commercial trials.
