Paediatric (non-Medicine) Specialty Group Remit

The remit of the Paediatrics (non medicines) Specialty Group is to support a national portfolio of research studies in paediatrics (non medicines). One of the main purposes of the group is to ensure that studies recruit to target by developing and supporting a research infrastructure within the specialty which promotes engagement of the research community and provides the local support necessary to undertake high quality research studies within the NHS.

The Specialty Group’s portfolio includes research into all diseases suffered by neonates, infants, children and young people, except those which involve medicines. There will be occasions where a study will be co-adoptable, but usually the Specialty Group will take the lead on studies which are led by paediatricians or have significant input from the paediatric community. The Specialty Group will discuss lead roles on studies where the intervention is given to the pregnant mother but the outcomes are measured in the infant.
