NHS organisation collaboration across Norfolk & Suffolk CLRN
1.NHS organisations across the Norfolk & Suffolk CLRN work proactively together to speed up the initiation of commercial clinical research across two or more organisations in the region by collectively sharing cost and contract negotiations and local review.
2.On the basis of the work done by a lead site within the region, each participating organisation will issue its own NHS permission letter and sign an individual contract with the commercial sponsor within 30 days of receipt of a valid SSI submission.
3.The NHS organisations participating are:
- Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- The Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust
- Norfolk & Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (Mental Health)
4.Where a study will require involvement from either primary care or the Ambulance service the same level of mutual assurance will be supported.
5.When a study is being set up in multiple sites in the region one site will take the lead and will, with due attention to confidentiality:
- Review the draft contract
- Negotiate costs between the sponsor and the local sites
- Share outcome of local review across confirmed participating sites
6.Commercial sponsors participating in the system are expected to use unmodified NIHR model agreements and the NIHR commercial costing template. In return studies being set up across more than one site in the region will be efficiently facilitated across confirmed participating sites.
7.When clinician commitments allow we would be happy to coordinate sponsor visits to confirmed participating sites.
