London (South) CLRN currently has two Clinical Directors from left to right;

- Dr David Goldsmith
All Directors are active researchers and practicing medical professionals within their individual specialist areas.
Professor Stephen Devereux
Stephen has been Joint Clinical Director of the London (South) Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN) since January 2010.
He is currently a Consultant Haematologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust & Reader in Haemato-oncology at King’s College London. Stephen trained in Haematology at the Hammersmith, Royal Free and University College London Hospitals where he conducted research leading to his PhD. Prior to taking up his current post, he worked as a Consultant
Haematologist in Canterbury and as a Senior Lecturer in Haematology at University College London.
His main clinical interest is the treatment of lymphoid malignancies, particularly Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL). He has a long involvement in clinical trials as both a Chief and Principle Investigator. Stephen also leads a laboratory research group focused on the biology of CLL and is a member of the UK-CLL Forum Executive and the NCRN CLL Clinical Trials Group.
Dr David Goldsmith
David is currently a Consultant Nephrologist at the Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust Kidney Unit and Reader in Renal Medicine, Division of Transplantation, King’s College London.
David is Associate Professor of Nephrology at the G T Popa University of Pharmacy and Medicine, Iasi, Romania, as well as one of the Joint Clinical Directors of the London (South) Comprehensive Local Research Network (CLRN). His clinical interests are Hypertension, Cardiovascular Disease, Inflammation and Calcification Syndromes in Renal patients. He has over 300 peer reviewed publications (1989 - present day), 200 research abstracts presented at over 80 meetings across the work and around £2,000,000 in grant and research awards. David has worked in senior positions in the UK Renal Association, the European Renal Association, as an Expert Advisor to the MHRA, and was Deputy Director of R&D at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, prior to becoming Clinical Director of the London (South) CLRN.

The Core Team based at Guy’s Hospital is made up by the following team members:
Senior Manager
Ann Marie Murtagh is the current Senior Manager for London (South) CLRN. She has been in post since 2010 and was previously the network manager for the South East England Stroke Research Network.
Ann Marie is responsible for the management and development of the network and works closely with the CLRN Clinical Directors and multi-professional Executive Group, to support the CLRN’s strategic development and delivery.
Research Management & Governance (RM&G) Team
The team are responsible for the management of the Coordinated System for gaining NHS Permission (CSP) and the Research Passport scheme across London (South) CLRN member organisations.
They liaise with R&D departments on obtaining project sign off and provide training and guidance on RM&G and CLRN initiatives.
Research Support Team
The team comprises of research nurses and facilitators. The provide assistance with patient recruitment to NIHR Portfolio studies, and relevant nursing interventions for research patients. They are responsible for the general management and coordination of the day to day running of CLRN research studies in different speciality areas, and assist with the management of the time and target National initiative.
Industry Team
The Industry team are the primary contacts for the CLRN with Industry looking to start clinical trials within London (South). They are responsible for trials post-adoption; focusing on budgets, contracts and site set-up, expressions of interest and feasibility, and post initiation recruitment issues.
Local Specialty Group Support
The London (South) CLRN Local Specialty Groups have a dedicated facilitator. The facilitator’s primary role is to set-up and coordinate Local Speciality Groups across the network and help individual groups with recruitment targets; uploading and study monitoring.
Information, Communications & Engagement Team
Made up of a Information Manager, a Communications Lead and a Patient & Public Involvement Lead (PPI), the team are responsible for producing and disseminating information and communications across the network, and stakeholder engagement.
The Information Manager is primarily responsible for providing and analysing data and statistics relating to the network’s performance and finance, and development and management of the London (South) CLRN Portal Site.
The Communications Lead is responsible for the production and dissemination of all publications and online content; ensuring that important news and stories of best practice are shared across the network. The Communications Leads is responsible for the development and delivery of communications to engage with key stakeholder groups. Also responsible for
the management and content of all digital platforms such as the Portal and website.
The Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) Lead is responsible for supporting and delivering the network’s PPI strategy working alongside the Lead Clinical Director and Communications Lead.
Administration Team
Responsible for the delivery of comprehensive administrative support within the CLRN Core Team. The Team provide dedicated support to the CLRN senior management team and other core team members, and supports with finance management.
Training Team
Led by the Lead Research Nurse, the Training Team arrange, plan and deliver training for the network.The Lead Research Nurse is also the Lead Facilitator for the SE Training Cluster.

Executive Group
The day to day operation of the CLRN is supported by an Executive Group, led by the CLRN Clinical Directors, has representation from primary, secondary and tertiary care and mental health.
