The Cardiovascular Specialty Group is one of 23
Specialty Groups which provide national networks
of topic-specific expertise. These groups are key to
the success of the CCRN. They work at both national
and local levels to ensure the successful delivery of
research within their specialties. This means ensuring
that studies are delivered to target and on time.
The remit of the Cardiovascular Specialty Group is to support a national portfolio of structured research studies in the field of cardiovascular disease. The portfolio includes studies concerned with the investigation, diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of all cardiovascular diseases – which includes:
- Hypertension
- Hyperlipidaemia
- Vascular aspects of diabetes
- Heart failure
- Rhythm disturbances of the heart
- Heart muscle disease
- Valvular heart disease
- Heart defects from birth
- High blood pressure
- Sudden death
- Diseases of the pericardium
- Surgery, including heart transplantation.
