Specialty Groups which provide national networks
of topic-specific expertise. These groups are key to
the success of the CCRN. They work at both national
and local levels to ensure the successful delivery of
research within their specialties. This means ensuring
that studies are delivered to target and on time.
The Ophthalmology Specialty Group supports a national portfolio of research studies in ophthalmology and the vision sciences.
The Specialty Group covers a wide range of conditions and considerations.These include: 
- Clinical trials involving medicines for diseases of the eye and optic nerve
Studies and trials of devices in diseases of the eye and optic nerve Studies and trials of childhood visual disorders Studies which document the natural history of eye diseases Studies to identify the risk factors and causes of eye diseases Studies of aids to help people with visual impairment and visual rehabilitation programmes.
