Renal
The Renal Specialty Group is one of 24 Specialty
Groups which provide national networks of topic-specific
expertise. These groups are key to the
success of the CCRN. They work at both national
and local levels to ensure the successful delivery of
research within their specialties. This means ensuring
that studies are delivered to target and on time.
The remit of the Renal Specialty Group is to support a national portfolio of structured research studies in the field of renal medicine, including studies in the following areas:
- Anaemia
- Hyperphosphataemia
- Other chronic kidney disease and mineral and bone disorders
- Transplantation
- Haemodialysis
- Peritoneal dialysis
- Chronic kidney disease
- Cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease
- Primary care nephrology
- Acute kidney injury
As would be expected there is some overlap of studies with other Speciality Groups and also with some of the NIHR Topic Specific Clinical Research Networks, particularly Diabetes, Cardiovascular and Primary Care. The Renal Speciality Group is working in partnership with these related Speciality Groups and research networks to ensure that patients are recruited for suitable studies in a timely manner.
