The Stroke Research Team in Cornwall is based at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. We are the largest general hospital in the County.
Phoenix Ward is the acute stroke care unit, with 20 beds and there are a further 6 stroke beds on Polgooth, the neurological ward.
The rehabilitation ward is situated in Camborne Redruth Community Hospital. Lanyon Ward offers a comprehensive package of care for our stroke patients who require rehabilitation.
Approximately 600 patients per year with acute stroke are admitted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital for assessment and specialist care. For those patients with TIA, or minimally disabling stroke, we run a TIA clinic on a daily basis at various hospital locations throughout Cornwall.
Our research team is recruiting patients with stroke and TIA to a portfolio of studies
