The third of four short films portraying one stroke patient’s journey in research is now available to view.
Being involved in research isn’t just about taking part in research studies. Patients and members of the public can give their views or get actively involved to help shape and improve research and make sure it’s relevant to those that matter most – the patients.
In part 3 of his journey Brin does just that. He offers a stroke patient's perspective to researcher Kristen Hollands who is working on a succession of studies looking at why stroke survivors have so many falls.
“I was able to give the researchers a different perspective on the work that they were doing”
Brin Helliwell, stroke patient
"By being involved in the research process Brin can tell us if the research questions that we are asking are relevant for him in daily life, and for other stroke patients like him”
Kristen Hollands, research fellow
Part 3: A different perspective, was released today, 21 October 2011. The final episode will be released next Friday in the run up to World Stroke Day which takes place on 29 October. If you want to find out what happens on the next leg of Brin’s Journey sign up to receive the e-newsletter.
